91成人 Urges Full Funding of CHIPS & Science Act Research Programs in President鈥檚 FY24 Budget

WASHINGTON鈥擣eb. 14, 2023鈥91成人 (91成人) President and CEO John Neuffer today sent a letter to Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, encouraging her to include in the President鈥檚 Budget Request for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) full funding for research and workforce programs authorized by the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.

鈥91成人 applauds Congress and the Administration for passage and enactment of the CHIPS and Science Act, which provided historic increases in funding for American innovation through programs at the National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA),鈥 Neuffer wrote.听鈥淭o uphold the promise and opportunity of the CHIPS and Science Act, it is pivotal that the Administration and Congress support these programs at the fully authorized level.鈥

The letter also expresses 91成人鈥檚 support for robust funding for Department of Defense (DOD) basic research programs, DARPA, the Trusted and Assured Microelectronics Program, and the Microelectronics Commons.

Neuffer added in the letter, 鈥淔ederal R&D programs have a substantial return on investment throughout the economy,听advancing innovations in new technologies that enable progress in such fields as computing, energy, manufacturing, AI, health care,听space, telecommunications, and defense.听The President鈥檚 budget and congressional appropriations听should听follow through on the听historic听commitments of the CHIPS and Science Act听in order to听support a vibrant American innovation ecosystem.鈥
