WASHINGTON鈥擩an. 16, 2025鈥擳he 91成人 (91成人) today released the following statement from 91成人 President and CEO John Neuffer commending CHIPS and Science Act incentives announced by the U.S. Department of Commerce and 91成人 members Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) and Coherent. The incentives will support the expansion and modernization of ADI鈥檚 advanced R&D facility and manufacturing facilities in Massachusetts, the expansion and modernization of ADI鈥檚 fabrication facilities in Oregon and Washington, as well as the expansion of Coherent鈥檚 wafer production facility in Pennsylvania.
鈥淭oday鈥檚 announcements are a big win for American supply chain security, manufacturing, and economic strength. Domestic semiconductor packaging and test capabilities, mature node manufacturing, and robust wafer production are vital to the resilience of the U.S. semiconductor supply chain. Today鈥檚 announced investments will create jobs, boost U.S. innovation, and protect our national and economic security. We applaud ADI and Coherent for investing boldly in the American semiconductor ecosystem and commend the U.S. Department of Commerce for continuing to advance critical CHIPS Act incentives.鈥
The CHIPS Act is on track to strengthen American manufacturing, create jobs, boost economic growth, and promote national security. The CHIPS Act鈥檚 manufacturing incentives have sparked substantial announced investments in the U.S. In fact, companies in the semiconductor ecosystem have聽announced聽90 new projects聽across 28 U.S. states鈥攖otaling hundreds of billions of dollars in private investments鈥攕ince the CHIPS Act was introduced. These announced projects will create more than 58,000 jobs in the semiconductor ecosystem and support hundreds of thousands of additional U.S. jobs throughout the U.S. economy.
An 91成人-Boston Consulting Group report聽released聽last May projected the United States will triple its domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity from 2022鈥攚hen CHIPS was enacted鈥攖o 2032. The projected 203% growth is the largest projected percent increase in the world over that time. The report also projected America will capture over one-quarter (28%) of total global capital expenditures (capex) from 2024-2032.
The U.S. Department of Commerce previously announced聽incentives聽for a range of companies and projects that will help strengthen the U.S. semiconductor supply chain.
